                                        • Q:

Can DuPont™ Water Filters really improve my water's taste and quality?

                                          A:

Yes. DuPont™ Water Filters have been independently certified to reduce specific toxic chemicals such as pesticides and herbicides. In addition, the filters contain patented filter media, which is superior at reducing selected contaminants including heavy metals like Lead and Mercury. This reduction in contaminants results in improved water quality, taste and odor.

                                          Q:

Can DuPont™ Air Filters really improve my indoor air quality?

                                          A:

For every visible particle trapped in your furnace filter such as dust, dirt, and mold, there are as many as 100 more that you cannot see, including bacteria, fungi, and pollen. If not stopped, these micro particles can seep through your HVAC system and back into your air. The effectiveness of DuPont™ Air Filters in trapping micro particles is reflected in the filter's Merv rating. The higher the Merv rating the better the filter is at trapping airborne particles. So the answer is YES, the air in your home can be cleaner.

                                          Q:

Do pleated filters actually provide better filtration than filters that are not pleated?

                                          A:

The filters media determines the level or quality of filtration that a filter provides. Pleated filters provide two advantages over unpleated filters (1) pleating provides more surface area to a filter, which is one way dirt holding capacity is increased in a filter (2) pleating also helps distribute the air flow over the surface of the filter more evenly.

How do I know if my drinking water is safe?

                                          A:

Consult your local water provider for actual water quality reports or if you have a well, have your water tested by a qualified water testing laboratory. For more information about a qualified laboratory in your area, contact your state health department or call the EPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791). You can also purchase home water analysis kits from home improvement, hardware and do-it-yourself stores. Based on your individual water quality test results, DuPont High Protection Filter Systems are generally recommended for public water service, and DuPont Ultra Protection Filter Systems are generally recommended for well.

                                          Q:

How does filtered water compare to bottled water?

                                          A:

Convenient : Unlike bottled water, DuPont™ Water Filters allow you to conveniently enjoy high quality, great tasting water directly from your faucet or refrigerator.

Less Expensive : In a direct gallon-for-gallon price comparison, filtered water is a fraction of the cost of bottled water.

Certified : Not all bottled water is the same. You don't always know the source of bottled water and you may not even know if it has been tested or certified. DuPont Water Filtration Systems have been independently tested and certified to reduce contaminants, and as a result improve the taste and quality of your water - all within the convenience of your own home.

Environmentally Friendly : Filtered water is better for the environment because it reduces waste; instead of disposing bottle after bottle, you only dispose the self-contained filter cartridge.

                                          A:

You should check your filter regularly for excessive buildup every 30 days and replace as needed. Under normal conditions we recommend replacing your filter at three month intervals unless instructed otherwise by the manufacturer.

                                          Q:

Other brands of air filters claim to not promote the growth of bacteria and mold on their filters can this be true?

                                          A:

This is only partially true. Many high performance filters today are made from synthetic fibers. Filters that are made from synthetic fibers are generally made from materials that bacteria and other microorganisms cannot process as a food. However, filters with synthetic media can still have bacteria and other microbes growing on the media. That's because any bacteria or microbes trapped on a filter will be able to feed off of other matter that is also trapped on the filter - things like pet dander, and pollen for example.

                                          What is a MERV rating?

                                          A:

MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value. The rating is derived from a test method developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Use the MERV rating as a comparison tool for evaluating the effectiveness of air filters. The higher the MERV rating the better the filter is at trapping specific types of particles. However, the MERV rating is not intended to be the sole basis for deciding which filter to buy, just as the horsepower of a car engine is not the only criteria in buying a car.

Any DuPont Faucet Mount Filter fits any DuPont Faucet Mount System and any DuPont Pitcher Cartridge fits any DuPont Filtration Pitcher.

Why is Microban® product protection so important on air filters?

                                          A:

Today's high performance filters are capable of trapping micro particles, including some as small as bacteria and fungi, and are designed to last up to 90 days. Unlike some inert particles, which may be trapped in your furnace/air conditioner filter, bacteria and fungi are living organisms. Under certain conditions these microorganisms can multiply on unprotected surfaces, potentially resulting in odors and adversely affecting the filter media. The presence of Microban® product protection in the filter materials is not intended to affect airborne micro organisms, but can help reduce the uncontrolled growth of odor causing microbes on the surface of the filter material itself, where you need it the most.

Why is Microban® product protection so important on water filters?

                                          A:

Microban® protection works continuously to help keep filter surfaces clean and provides protection that lasts the useful life of the product. The presence of Microban® technology in the filter components is not intended to purify drinking water, or prevent disease, but to fight the uncontrolled growth of bacteria on the filter itself, which could adversely affect the filter life and performance.
